The Chapin Town Council Tuesday appointed Lisa Lee Smith of the Chapin law firm Smith & Sullivan, LLC, as Chapin’s Town Attorney. Chapin did not have a town attorney under the previous administration.
Lisa Lee Smith is the founding senior partner of Smith & Sullivan, LLC. She is a real estate, probate/planning and civil litigation attorney with vast experience representing diverse clients (individuals, couples, families, fiduciaries, small & large businesses, governmental entities, and insurance companies) in the private practice of law since graduating from law school in 1995.
Her practice includes all areas of Real Estate Law – including contract negotiations, real property counsel & litigation, residential transactions, commercial transactions & title insurance. She serves as a mediator, arbitrator and special referee for cases and matters that would otherwise be decided in the State Civil Courts or Probate Courts. She represents clients dealing with the probate administration process and in preparation of their own wills and other estate planning documents.
Her practice areas also include trial representation of clients in State and Federal Trial Courts in South Carolina, including the courts of the Master-in-Equity.
She values her experience, leadership and involvement in professional organizations. She is a Past President of the Lexington County Bar Association and is very active in the South Carolina Bar Association as a member of the House of Delegates, and a current member and a past-chair of the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection. Previously, Lisa also served on the Professional Responsibility Committee, the Professional Potential Task Force, the Judicial Qualifications Committee and the Law Related Education Committee. She is a member of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and its Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.
She is very involved in her community and enjoys serving others through her involvement as a member of the Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise, where she is a Past President. Lisa currently serves as Assistant Governor for Rotary District 7770, Area 3. For many years, she enjoyed her work as a volunteer and troop leader for Girl Scouts in the Irmo – Chapin area and as an ambassador for a disaster relief non-profit organization called ShelterBox USA (www.shelterboxusa.com).
She is married to her Irmo High School sweetheart, Pauley Smith. Their three children attend the Chapin area schools of School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties.
